Guca nazaaca, bidxiña lu be’za’ xti’ Guidxibi

Here you can find botanical and linguistic information about plants found in and around La Ventosa, a community located in Oaxaca, México on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Didxazá, the language spoken indigenously in this area, is endangered. The youngest speakers are now over the age of 20. With support from a Grand Challenges grant awarded by the Smithsonian Consortia of World Cultures and led by researchers at the National Museum of Natural History, this project documented the names, descriptions, and uses of over 800 plant species in this area.
