Description:
Generic name given to guayaba trees and their fruit. These trees reach a height of 7 meters. When ripe, the fruit can be yellow, pinkish on the inside or pear-shaped, depending on the particular variety. The tender leaves are believed to have curative properties against coughs, treated by preparing the leaves together with mexquite and cualuto seeds, boiling them, adding sugar and drinking as a tea.
