Herb that reaches a height of 30 centimeters, with white flowers and green fruit. The Spanish name, "cola de alacrán" (scorpion's tail) refers to the shoot the flowers grow along, which curls at the end like a scorpion's tail. This herb is considered to have medicinal properties to combat inflammation. It is boiled along with Ocimum campechianum (hierba de toro) to prepare an enema. It can also be used to help women with difficulty giving birth. The preparation is not taken by mouth.
