Description:
This term is used to refer to the woody vines that produce the various types of pumpkin. The round pumpkin is known as guitu, while the longer shape is known as guitu yanni, and was once used to make dolls for children. Another, with sections similar to orange segments, is called guitu xembe', and the pumpkin with a hard shell is known as guitu chuga. These pumpkins are eaten, and some are used to make sweets and desserts. They are also used as fodder for pigs.
