Description:
This name is used to refer to at least two species belonging to two different families. These abundant trees with hard wearing wood reach a height of 2.5 meters. The flowers of Exostema caribaeum of the Rubiaceae family are brown and the fruit is black, while the flowers of the species belonging to the genus Amyris of the Rutaceae family are white and the fruit is green. In the area of La Ventosa, both species are found only in the El Merodio and El Eustaquio hills.
